R1, 1 Out, Hit and Run, Trouble Fly ins RF, R1 läuft los (glaubt es ist ein Basehit) und ist schon auf der 2B, aber dreht zur 1B um, als er sieht, dass der RF nach dem Ball hechtet. Der RF macht den Catch, allerdings wird R1 auf dem Weg zurück von F4 gröber behindert und deswegen vom RF auf der 1B knapp ausgeworfen.

Zuerst muss geklärt werden, ob es sich hierbei um eine Type A oder Type B Obstruction handelt:
Zum Zeitpunkt der Behinderung hat der RF noch nicht zum Wurf auf 1B angesetzt: Type B Obstruction (kein Play auf Runner)
Zum Zeitpunkt der Behinderung hat der RF bereits zum Wurf auf 1B angesetzt: Type A Obstruction (Play auf Runner)

2.00 OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner.
7.06 When obstruction occurs, the umpire shall call or signal “Obstruction.”
(a) If a play is being made on the obstructed runner, or if the batter-runner is obstructed before he touches first base, the ball is dead and all runners shall advance, without liability to be put out, to the bases they would have reached, in the umpire’s judgment, if there had been no obstruction. The obstructed runner shall be awarded at least one base beyond the base he had last legally touched before the obstruction. Any preceding runners, forced to advance by the award of bases as the penalty for obstruction, shall advance without liability to be put out.
(b) If no play is being made on the obstructed runner, the play shall proceed until no further action is possible. The umpire shall then call “Time” and impose such penalties, if any, as in his judgment will nullify the act of obstruction.
Wird auf Type A entschieden, so ist sofort Dead Ball und der Runner bekommt die 2B zugesprochen (…one base beyond the base he had last legally touched before the obstruction). Die letzte regelgerecht berührte Base vor der Obstruction war auf Grund des Leaving too early die 1B, nicht die 2B!
Er muss allerdings einen Retouch auf der 1B machen, bevor er die 2B berührt (Dead Ball Situation). Ansonsten kann er auf Appeal wegen Leaving too early ausgegeben werden (wenn der Ball wieder im Spiel ist und vor dem nächsten Pitch, Play oder Attempted Play).

7.10 Any runner shall be called out, on appeal, when—
(b) (2) When the ball is dead, no runner may return to touch a missed base or one he has left after he has advanced to and touched a base beyond the missed base.
(d) … Any appeal under this rule must be made before the next pitch, or any play or attempted play.
Wird auf Type B entschieden, muss der Ausgang des Spielzuges abgewartet werden. Hätte der Runner die 1B ohne Obstruction erreicht, so wird ihm diese zugesprochen, wenn er sie auch ohne Obstruction nicht erreicht hätte, wird er out gegeben (…impose such penalties, if any, as in his judgment will nullify the act of obstruction).
