Major League Baseball Umpire Ted Barrett to Visit Austria in November

The Austrian Baseball and Softball Federation is proud to announce that longtime Major League Baseball umpire Ted Barrett will be visiting Austria this November to share his experience and expertise with the Austrian umpire community.

Barrett, who worked over 30 years in MLB and served as crew chief for multiple World Series assignments, will headline a series of events aimed at strengthening the knowledge and development of Austrian umpires.

His schedule will include:

  • Austrian Baseball and Softball Federation Convention (BSFZ Maria Alm/Hintermoos, November 14–16): Barrett will be a featured speaker, offering insights into professional umpiring at the highest level.
  • Umpire Clinic in Dornbirn (November 18–19): An interactive training session including both theory and practical training, designed to sharpen mechanics and on-field decision-making.
  • Umpire Training Clinic in Wiener Neustadt (November 21–22): A two-day clinic focusing on advanced techniques, positioning, and game management.

All clinics and convention presentations are open to any interested umpires who want to further develop their skills and gain direct instruction from one of baseball’s most respected officials.

The Austrian Baseball and Softball Federation presents this initiative with the generous support of Fields for the Future–Austria and Unlimited Potential Inc (UPI).
